Vietnam Lunar New year or called with other name is Tet. If Christmas and New Year are a season of joy and happiness to Western people, Tet is no doubt a season of mirth and blessings to any Vietnamese regardless of age, religion and social status. It’s the most important festival for Vietnamese.
Some weeks before festival, all Vietnamese households will prepare all things which need for our occasion. Such as; paint their house, buy cakes, jam, fire crackers, buy material for make Chung cake. Especially, tree for Tet. At the north of Vietnam, peach symbol for Tet, but at the south of Vietnam, apricot symbol for Tet.
On the Eve of Lunar New Year. It is the right time to say goodbye to old year and say hello to new year. all families will gather to have a reunion dinner. Tet includes 3 main days, on the first day of new year, everybody will visit our parents, grandparents, Children will wear new clothes and receive ang – bows from married adults. Ang – bows are red backets containing a certain amount of money and it is said that, it will bring luckily for new year. Tet is priod of happiness and hope, worries and sadness are dispelled by showers of good wishes for happiness.
