Vieng Market

Every year on the  8^th of the first lunar month , thousands of people flock to a unique market in Nam Dinh province, which is held only once a year to sell – guess what – bad luck as well as to buy good luck for the year to come. The market opens at midnight of 7^th until all 8^th day.

It is said that, anything bought at the market would bring good luck to the buyer for the whole year. All goods here are tools for agriculture production, handicraft products, antiquities, and a lot of kinds of ornamental plants, a especially at the market is beef meat. Most of the farmers usually buys farming tools such as hoes, sickles…

The farmers believe that the tools will brings richness, and have good crops. Everybody also like ornamental plants, the young usually like flowers but the old like bonsai. Visitors then can go on to pray for a happy new year at several local temples.
