Itinerary
DAY 1: ARRIVE DELHICheck –in at Airport 3 hours before departure. Arrive Delhi India’s capital city where a thousand years of history great the visitor, Delhi is a city of contrasts,met & transferred to hotel for your overnight stay.
DAY 2: DELHI - LUCKNOW - SRAVASTI
Early morning take Shatabdi express to Lucknow at 6:15am reach Lucknow at 1230 Pm. After lunch at Lucknow 4 hours to Sravasti to visit the Jetavana Gardens where the Buddha spent twenty four rainy seasons. At Sravasti, Buddha confounded his critics with a million – fold manifestation of himself seated on a thousand petalled lotus, as fire and water emanated from his body. Also visit the Augulimala Cave and the Ananda Bodhi tree.
DAY 3: SRAVASTI - LUMBINI
Leave early in the morning for lumbini which is about 7 hour’s away. Stop for lunch at Siddharthnagar. Arrive Lumbini; visit the birth place of the Buddha. Tour of the Lumbini gardens includes the Ashoka or Rummir Pillar, base relief image of Maya Devi, Puskarnim – the sacred pool sanctum- sanctorum of the birthplace of the Buddha.
DAY 4: LUMBINI - KUSHINAGAR
After early breakfast proceed to Kushinagar (5 hours) it is here that the passed in to Mahaparinirvana, the Mahaparinirvana temple houses a recumbent fight of the Buddha brought from Mathura by the monk haribala. Also visit the brick ruins of Buddha’s cremation. Her you will also see the indo – Japan – Sri Lanka Buddhist centre and temples of various nations. Overnight at Kushinagar.
DAY 5: KUSHINAGAR - VAISHALI - RAJGIR
After breakfast proceed to Vaishali. Vaishali was the centre of the Buddhist council congregation, held after 100 years of Buddha’s Parinirvana. At Kothua Lord Buddha delivered his last sermon. Later emperor Ashoka erected a huge Pillar to commemorate the spot of the last sermon, overnight at Rajgir.
DAY 6: RAJGIR - NALANDA - BODHGAYA
After breakfast leave for nalanda which holds the site of the oldest universities of the world. It had twelve million books, ten thousand students, and two thousand teachers and was a centre of great learning which reached its zenith between5th and 12th century A.D.Both Lord B and Buddha and Lord Mahavira are said to have visit this place. Emperor image of Buddha and Emperor Kumar Gupta built a college of fine artsat Nalanda.Later proceeds to Rajgir, the site of great sancity and significance for the Buddhists. The Gridhakuta hill was the seat from where the Buddha delivered many of the sermons. It was her that the teachings of the Buddha were recorded in writing of his first time. An aerial rope way takes pilgrim up the hill where the Japanese have built a beautiful stupa, visit veluvana(Bamboo Garden),the vulture’s peak,Sattapanni cave(site of 1stBuddhist council)and other Buddhist sites, leave for Bodhgaya for overnight.
DAY 7: BODHGAYA
Bodhgaya is the most important Buddhist pilgrimage centre where Lord Buddha attained spiritual birth. Visit the magnificent Mahabodhi Temple, the giant Bodhi tree which is believed to have grown from the original bodhi tree where the Buddha attained nirvana. Also visit the chankarama, the jewel-walk where Buddha strolled while in deep thought as well other temple and monasteries.
DAY 8: BODHGAYA - SARANATH - VARANASI
After early breakfast proceed to Varanasi one of holiest and fascinating cities in the East. On arrival transferred to hotel for Lunch, After Lunch Proceed to visit Sarnath. The Dhamek Stupa mark’s the spot of the Buddha’s first sermon after enlightenment at this deer park. The museum with a remarkable statue of the Buddha set the wheel of law in motion; visit Mulgandla kuti temple, dear park.Saranath hallmark is for tranquility. Return to Varanasi for overnight.
DAY 9: VARANASI - DELHI - DEPARTURE
Proceed on an early morning cruise on the river Ganges to see the sunrise and bathing ghats. Later transfer to Domestic Airport to connect flight to New Delhi, On Arrival Proceed Bahai house of worship known as the Lotus Temple. Also visit Rajghat, India Gate &drive pass to parliament House, President’s Palace & Secretariat building .Also tour Old Delhi where you can see the different cultures between New Delhi &Old Delhi Free for shopping later Transferred to the airport to board your return flight back home.
